General Statement of Essential Job Tasks:
The Deputy Director primary responsibility is to assist the Director with the operation and administration of the communications center. The Deputy Director will be responsible for the overall planning, review and implementation of the entire communications system, as well as assisting the Director with coordination and administration of all Center activities. The Deputy Director will coordinate Center activities with the public safety units of the member communities and any contract service agencies. The Deputy Director will cover Tele-communicator shifts on a full-time float schedule with at least 24 hours’ notice.
This position reports to the Center Director, who in turn reports to the Management Committee.
General Description of Essential Job Tasks:
Assist the Center Director with day to day operations
Responsible for monthly tasks as to completing pre-programmed activities, completing on site and off site back up equipment tests, completing monthly records destruction, completing monthly agency reports, daily administrative duties (payroll, scheduling, discovery request, payment of invoices), as well as other time sensitive tasks.
Maintain and update the Center’s policies and procedures, employee handbook, IOP’s, and other rules and regulations which affect Center operations and act as a resource for questions about the application of policies, procedures, rules and regulations as they apply to Center employees.
Assist in the preparation of reports and statistical data.
Supervise the inspection, adjustment, or repair of communications equipment and systems.
Quality of Work: Must be able to provide high quality, accurate work, be able to multitask and to remain focused under stress. Must have the ability and willingness to show initiative in completing work assignments. Must have the ability to develop special projects and follow them through to completion. Must be flexible with scheduling to cover open Tele-communicator shifts.
Physical Abilities: Must have the ability to speak and write English clearly. Must have the ability to comprehend, interpret, and evaluate relevant information from various types of source materials. Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media, including the ability to distinguish between colors on a color-coded computer screen. Must have the ability to type accurately on a computer keyboard while conversing with callers.
Technical Knowledge: Must have knowledge of standardized office and general business practices and procedures and must acquire a working knowledge of public safety communications equipment, practices and procedures, including, but not limited to, the following:
