Swimmers 9-18 years of age are invited to swim competitively, independent of skill level, on the Graydon Swim Team. Ridgewood's team competes in the Lake League which involves dual meets both home and away. Dual meets are usually Monday and Thursday nights starting at 5:30 p.m. beginning the last week of June and running through the first week of August. The NJPMA Bergen County Swim Championships this year are the week of August 6-11, 2007.
Those 6-8 years of age are invited to join the pre-comp swim team. This team is for swimmers who have taken swim lessons and are ready to move to the next level. Evaluations will be held during the week of June 18th to determine skill level.
Swimmers are expected to be able to:
-swim 25 yards
-tread water for 30 seconds
-swim in deep water
Practices will focus on stroke development and endurance. The pre-comp team will compete in intra-squad meets at Graydon.
The schedule has been set up so that children attending Graydon Day Camp can also participate on the Graydon Swim Team. Parents are responsible for picking children up from camp and bringing them to the lane lines.
The fee is $150.00 per swimmer. Registration can be made in person or by mail - The Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue from May 1st through May 31, 2007. Space is limited so register early. Registrations received after the May 31st deadline will be waitlisted and subject to a $ 25.00 late fee.

Practice schedule:
June 25 - August 3
11 and older - 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
9 and 10 year olds - 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
8 year olds - 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.
6 and 7 year olds - 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.
A parent meeting/pizza party is slated for Friday, June 22nd at Graydon Pool, 4:30 p.m. Metro Swim Shop will be available from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. At that time swimmers may purchase all necessary items for the season.
The seasonal End of the Year Banquet will be on Friday, July 27, 6:00 p.m. at Graydon Pool (raindate July 28th). |
