"Keep Kids Alive - Drive 25" - Safety Campaign
Have you seen the reminder signs? This campaign is 'grass roots' through the Ridgewood Safety Advisory Committee - designed to educate and actively engage residents in a common commitment to create a safer community. Families are using yard signs and bumper stickers to remind their neighbors to slow down. Doing so keeps children, cyclists and other pedestrians safe. Visit www.KeepKidsAliveDrive25.org to find out how you can be a part of this ongoing safety initiative.
Cell Phone Calls to 9-1-1
Residents should always be prepared to give their location when calling 9-1-1. New technologies do not, in many instances, provide location information to 9-1-1 operators. Cellular phone calls and calls from phones connected to computer networks may not provide 9-1-1 operators with information regarding the location of the calling party. If the caller becomes disconnected or cannot be understood by the operator, public safety response may not be possible. Whenever you call 9-1-1 for a life or property EMERGENCY, speak slowly and distinctly and have your location available. The 9-1-1 operators have been trained to provide you with necessary information so do not hang up until you are advised to do so.

Parking Reminder
Backing into a metered parking spot whether it be on the street or in a parking lot is unlawful. Always pull vehicle head in. Village Ordinance 1501-2 F&G
Broken Parking Meters
To report a parking meter that you suspect is broken, please call the Village of Ridgewood Violation's Office at 201/670-5500 ext. 501 with the street location and the number of the meter.

If you have gotten a parking ticket and suspect that the parking meter is not functioning properly, you should call the Violation's Office, request a meter check, and they will put your ticket "on hold" while the meter is being checked.
Parking in Ridgewood
"15 minute" parking meters have been installed throughout the Central Business District in an effort to help with quick pick ups and turnover of spaces. The Village Council continues to work to create more parking in the Downtown area. The Council is actively looking to construct a multi-level parking facility on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Walnut Street. Progress of this effort will be posted here and reported in the local newspapers.

There are 12 hour meters requiring a Central Business District (CBD) permit, for those who work for Ridgewood businesses, at certain sections of the Hudson Street Lot and certain sections of the Walnut and Franklin Lot. No permits are required for parking at Cottage Place Lot (118 12-hr. metered spots) and W. Ridgewood Avenue, between Heights Road; Corsa Terrace and Godwin Ave. (near the Red Cross Bldg.); S. Broad St. (near Brogan Cadillac).
